Unmanned Aircraft Systems - Drones

One million Unmanned Aircraft (UAS) drones were given at Christmas last year. Airports around the country have reported more than 1,100 UAS sightings, to date.

The FAA recently announced new registration rules for all UAS weighing 0.5 pounds to 55 pounds, including payload such as cameras. Please click here to view the release. Please include this information on your website.

In addition, the FAA has begun a public awareness campaign and has created an informational video to help UAS owners understand the rules for flying these craft. The Board requests that all Commercial airports in Texas post this video on their websites. Click here to see the video.

Know Before You Fly will help UAS owners fly responsibly.
