Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

1 of 8

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport set a passenger record in 2015 with 11.9 million travelers through the terminal. This was up 11 percent over the previous year and marked continued growth for the fifth consecutive year.

In keeping up with this growth and in preparation for future increases and passengers and air service, Austin’s airport is expanding its terminal, jet apron, customer parking, pet boarding, and other amenities and services. For more information on Austin airport construction and improvement projects, visit http://www.austintexas.gov/department/improvements-are-underway.

As the airport of choice for Central Texas, Austin-Bergstrom connects the community it serves to the world with a uniquely Austin – style experience. This includes:

  • 52 Nonstop destinations including international service to London, Frankfurt, Toronto, San Jose de Cabo, Guadalajara and Cancun
  • Over 300 flights per day
  • A diverse carrier mix with 15 airlines as of 2016; see the Austin carrier roster at http://austintexas.gov/department/airlines-flights
  • Parallel runway and taxiways system, including a 12,250-feet long runway
  • 25 gate terminal with a nine gate expansion underway
The character and culture of Austin are presented at the airport with:

In addition to supporting the community by featuring local restaurants, music and art, Austin-Bergstrom generates $2.4 billion (source: 2011 TXDOT Economic Impacts report) in economic activity annually and supports more than 40,000 jobs.

Austin-Bergstrom’s role in the community includes environmental initiatives as well. The terminal is powered entirely from green energy sources, currently wind power. The airport’s expanded recycling program has reduced the amount of materials going to the landfill by millions of pounds. When it opened, parking shuttles were powered by propane and they are still powered by clean burning alternative fuel sources.

Beyond its primary role of a safe, clean resource for travelers, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is a member of the Central Texas Community. Connect with Austin’s airport on Twitter, @AUStinAirport, and Facebook, www.facebook.com/abia.
